Bazil Grumble Provides a range of events and workshops for a wide range of age groups and levels of proficiency.

Many of our events are FREE and allow people of all ages to engage in creative arts experiences.

To register for an event, select the event from the list below and fill out the registration form (if applicable, not all events require registration and some require registration with the organisation hosting the workshop).

Hula Hoop Action at Corinda - 10.30am Sat 22 June 2013

Make your very own hula hoop that is decorated to make it look bright and colourful.  Then get active learning all about how to use your body to bring the hula hoop to life with a range of exciting tricks and amazing flourishes.

Hula Hoop Action is presented by Brisbane City Council as part of their Active Parks program, and is recommended for children three years and over.

Pottery Wheel Funshop at Forest Lake (morning session) - 10am Sat 22 June 2013 (CHILL OUT)

Price: A$5.00

Throw yourself into the fun and engaging world of pottery.  Experienced artists will guide you through the techniques of pottery wheel throwing and hand sculpting.  Find muscles you never knew you had in this physical and fun activity!  There are two sessions - a morning and afternoon session on the day.  You can attend one, but better still - why not attend both?  If you do attend both, please ensure that you register for both the morning and afternoon session, and pay the $5 participant fee for each session

Pottery Wheel Funshop is presented by Brisbane City Council, as part of their Chill Out school holiday program, and is recommended for children from 10 to 17 years of age.  There is a $5 participant fee for this activity, which is non-refundable.

Powerkids 2013 - June/July School Holiday Period

Bazil Grumble as so proud to be involved again with the Brisbane Powerhouse Powerkids festival , these upcoming school holidays!

This year's theme is 'My Hero', with loads of activities to help children understand their true superhero qualities and what it means to help others. 

Children of every age will get to make new friends as they learn, laugh and get active.

Hero Booth (for all ages)

Enter your own magical world of transformation!  The Bazil Grumble team will be on hand to help you create yourown superhero, from hair to makeup, costumes and more.  This special space will give you the freedom to let your imagination run wild and let your inner superhero escape.

The Hero Booth will run from Tuesday 25 June to Friday 5 July, daily from 9am to 11am and 12pm to 2pm.  Our Saturday and Sunday sessions will run from 9am to 11am.

 

Search For A Superhero! (for all ages)

Two best friends have a big problem.  The only way to fix it is to find a superhero that has special powers.  With your help, the truth becomes clear; there is a superhero inside everyone!  All it takes is some creative thinking and each of us can overcome any obstacle.  This performance is making its debut at this year's Powerkids event!

Eco Hero (six to 12 years of age)

Become an eco-hero and save the day!  Using primarily recycled materials, make a giant puppet and then get active and healthy by using your body to bring it to life through physical activity.  These puppets are attached to the puppeteer's body, which then moves and shakes to animate your character.

Flying Origami (four to seven years of age)

Learn new and innovative techniques to make your own plane soar!  Make your speedy paper airplane with secret tips and tricks from the experts on how to make it go faster, higher and longer!  Once you're the speediest pilot in the skies you'll get to show off your skills in hotly contested races to see who can fly the greatest distance. ZOOM!

ACT-ivate Eco Drama at Forestdale - 10.30am Thurs 27 June 2013 (KRANK)

Get physical with theatre and learn skills of performance and presentation.  Explore improvisation, voice and movement.  Stretch the body and the imagination while having a good laugh and meeting new friends.

ACT-ivate Eco Drama is presented by the KRANK school holiday program for the Logan City Council.

Comedy and Clowning at Graceville - 10am Sat 29 June 2013 (CHILL OUT)

Do you love to make people laugh?  Learn about many aspects of comedy and clowning including mime and movement, voice and characterisation.  Work creatively, both individually and in groups, to invent scenes and short performance routines and to explore the fundamentals of what makes an audience laugh.

Bunraku Inspired Puppets at Greenslopes - 10am Sat 6 July 2013 (CHILL OUT)

Price: A$5.00

Make a giant puppet from both new and recycled materials and then get active and healthy by using your body to bring it to life! These puppets are over half a metre tall and are attached to the puppeteers body which then moves in creative ways to animate the character. Work as a team to create a narrative to present to your peers.

Walk and Whimsy! Art In The Park at New Farm - 10am Sun 7 July 2013

Come along to this fun, active and creative session.  Experience the wonder of a nature walk in the beautiful gardens.  Then make a whimsical artist book using papers and fabrics reminiscent of the textures and patterns within the gardens.
