Event Registration



Brisbane City Council's Active Parks program offers activities for all ages at more than 50 local parks across Brisbane. You can use the free or low cost activities to help improve your health, fitness and well-being. It's also a wonderful way to meet new friends, and learn new skills!  Please note that registration is required to confirm your place in each of the sessions, and we will be unable to accept registrations that are outside of the listed age suitability.


Active Explorers Create at Mitchelton- 10:00am Tue 29 Aug 2017 (three to five years)

Come and explore the park with a magnifying glass and watch a whole new world come to life as you participate in an adventure walk around the park.  You'll notice all the little details that you might normally miss.  After the walk you will have fun creative some unique gift cards with the help of the magnifying glass and their powers of observation.


Little Ones Investigate Art at Upper Kedron - 10:00am Fri 1 Sep 2017 (three to five years)

Come along and explore a range of different creative activities with Bazil Grumble.  Usually art is done on your own but not in this workshop!  Here you will work both individually and as a team to get active and healthy and engage in a range of art forms!

Five Little Ducks at Ashgrove - 10:00am Tue 5 Sep 2017 (three to five years)

In the famous song, the five little ducks go for a big walk and in this workshop everyone will have a chance to do that too!  Afterwards, everyone can relax on the colourful parachute, sing some songs, hear some stories and get moving with some great games all about your favourite animals.

Senses Alive: See, Hear, Touch Nature at Bulimba - 10:00am Thur 7 Sep 2017 (three to five years)

Come and bring your senses to life.  See the trees, hear the birds, touch the leaves and breathe in the fresh air.  Come along to hear some stories and songs about the senses, engage in some creative activities that explore the textures of the park and play some games that will get everyone feeling active and healthy.

Hungry Hungry Caterpillars at Calamvale - 10:00am Mon 11 Sep 2017 (three to five years)

Learn all about active, healthy bodies as you place the 3D felt food items on the healthy eating pyramid.  Enjoy a story, then get active with a fun food relay and a wiggly caterpillar race!  This innovative, energetic workshop promises heaps of fun, while promoting a healthy message.

Kite Making and Flying at Chermside - 10:00am Thur 14 Sep 2017 (three to five years)

Kite flying is energetic, relaxing and a rewarding activity and the perfect activity for families to do together on the weekend.  Come along and you will make your very own kite to take home. Then you can get active and healthy running around the park flying your very own unique creation.

Native Clay Critters at Karawatha - 10:00am Sat 16 Sep 2017 (three years and over)

Go for a nature walk to gain inspiration so that you can create your very own native critters from natural clay. Learn dynamic decorative techniques such as paddling, stretching and stamping which will help you achieve surprising textural effects. You will be amazed as you learn creative ways to transform your native clay critters from ordinary to extraordinary!

Lantern Making and Sunset Adventure Walk at Yeronga - 3:00pm Sat 16 Sep 2017 (five years and over)

Come and enjoy the great outdoors and make your own unique lantern.  You'll be amazed at how beautiful and effective the lantern looks and how easy it is to create.  The session will culminate in an illuminated dusk walk around the park with lanterns to help everyone get active and healthy.  Come and let your light shine in the park!

Shoot for the Stars Pottery and Adventure Walk at Mt Coot-tha - 2:00pm Sun 24 Sep 2017 (three years and over)

Come along to this fun workshop to make some weird and wonderful aliens, asteroids and rockets from clay.  Get active and healthy by taking a walk on the Hide and Seek Children's Adventure Trail for fun and fitness.

Juggle-a-Rama at The Gap - 10:00am Wed 27 Sep 2017 (six years and over)

You will learn how to make your very own set of juggling balls and have a ball learning the basics of juggling and slapstick comedy.  This workshop experience will enhance the participants' motor skills and aid them in the development of hand eye coordination while allowing them to build confidence and self esteem and have a great deal of fun in the process.

Wild Things Drama at Karawatha - 10:00am Wed 27 Sep 2017 (five years and over)

Starting with a reading of the book Where the Wild Things Are, we then offer a drama workshop based around the story.  Creativity, imagination and using the body in new and interesting ways are celebrated in this workshop perfect for primary aged children who love to bring stories to life.
