Below is an overview of our 2018 drama units. We have loved every moment teaching the students and have been impressed with their eagerness to reach for the stars!

We started 2018 with Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice in Wonderland. Students joined Alice as she ventured down the rabbit hole into Wonderland and met fantastical characters. In term two, students explored the amazing world of film and television in our unit Lights, Camera, Action! They learnt all about the different roles involved in making a movie and created a showcase for family and friends that featured scenes from both classic movies and new releases. Our speech and drama unit in term three, In the Spotlight, focused on student’s learning clear and effective speech, how to use pace, pause, emphasis, intonation and enunciation, as well as posture and breathing. Our final unit for the year, Aussie Christmas, was inspired by the lyrics of the iconic ‘Christmas Photo’ song by John Williamson. Students adapted the lyrics into a magical and delightful performance that brought together all the skills they have learnt in classes so far this year.

GROWING POPULARITY OF OUR CLASSES

In our 21st year of operation, we responded to many requests from parents to offer our drama classes at schools in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. While we have previously held workshops on the Gold Coast, this was our first year offering drama classes at Gold Coast schools and it was a massive success! Schools that have joined the Bazil Grumble drama family in 2018 include Broadbeach State School, Musgrave Hill State School, Surfers Paradise State School, Benowa State School, Southport State School, Burleigh Heads State School, Gumdale State School, Bulimba State School, West End State School, Upper Mount Gravatt State School, Belmont State School and Runcorn Heights State School.

We have already seen the students in these new classes grow so much and look forward to continuing to work with them in 2019.
